Community Update Sept. 27, 2024

Dear Newmarket Families,

While it’s a beautiful 80-degree afternoon that feels far more mid-August than end of September, we have in fact made it through the first month of school. The month flew by with students and staff engaged in a wide variety of classroom and extracurricular activities. I wanted to take a few moments to stop and reflect on all of the amazing opportunities and events we’ve had over the first four weeks and highlight some of our upcoming opportunities.

At the high school level, we had a very successful Spirit Week themed around the one-hundred-year anniversary of the building capped off with a wildly entertaining lip sync battle between the classes. Speaking of the anniversary, the Newmarket Historical Society did a great prestation on the history of the Newmarket Mule mascot that is available on our website and worth a watch to find out exactly why, how, and when Newmarket became the homes of the Mules. Additionally, we had our homecoming varsity soccer games and homecoming dance all last weekend which were all very well attended and enjoyed by all.  Coming up for our sophomore and juniors are the PSATs which will take place during the school day the morning of October 9th.

Our middle school students have had a great start to their year as well.  Each grade level team has administered the first round iReady assessments and our hope is to get those results to you as soon as possible. These results will be used to target specific instruction and enrichment during the student’s WIN block. On Wednesday, we invited all of our middle school students to attend a school wide club and student organization fair. Students were encouraged to sign up for clubs and organizations they were interested in with their school email addresses so they could be receiving additional information. At last count, we had over 70 new middle school signs up!

If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the opening day paperwork online. Please use this link to complete the 2024 - 25 Beginning of School Information and Forms. This online Form includes several suggested and required documents for you to review and acknowledge receipt, and it will help us to ensure that we have all of your student’s most up to date contact information on file. If you’d prefer to access it via a computer, go to our school’s website and click on the School Opening 24 - 25 folder > Student Information 2024 -2025 Form. If you would still prefer a paper copy, please have your student request a packet from the main office.

As we are nearly half way through the first quarter, it’s a great time to remind everyone that they can access their students grades and attendance via the Infinite Campus parent portal.  Our IT department has created some great documents and videos to aid you in setting up your accounts:

In closing, I just want to again express my gratitude and excitement on behalf of all our staff for entrusting us with your students on a daily basis. As always, my door is open and we welcome your input. Please feel free to contact to discuss any ideas or concerns.

Thank you,
