NES students learn about early tools

Students in grades K-5 recently examined parts of tools hundreds of years old to guess their function. A wooden shoulder yoke and stones — from an ax, an arrow, a sharpening stone and more — represented the way of life for both the First Peoples and European colonists from the early 1600s. Library & Media Specialist Ms. Goolkasian displayed a waterways map of the Alnôbak Tribe/Pascataquack Band Territory on our table featuring books around the topic of Thanksgiving.

Many thanks to the Newmarket Historical Society for lending us artifacts.
