Dear Newmarket parents, guardians, teachers, students, and community members,
As 2023 comes to an end, I wish you all a wonderful winter break and a Happy New Year.
Traveling about the schools over the last few weeks there has been a wonderful festive atmosphere. From spirit weeks, concerts, ugly sweaters, and community service efforts, the schools have been abuzz with seasonal joy and purpose.
This year in particular music has played a significant role in setting the seasonal tone of the schools. Last week there were wonderful holiday concerts performed by Mr. Branscombe’s Chorus and Mr. Foye’s band at the Jr-Sr High. Earlier this week Ms. Lazarus’s kindergarten students performed a holiday show. This morning the lobbies at both schools were filled with music. The NJSHS band students performed holiday selections as everyone arrived. At NES, Ms. King’s chorus students serenaded all arrivals. Students at NES were then treated to a holiday concert by The Cahill Quartet. Hearing the voices of children singing seasonal music is always a joy.
As I look ahead to 2024, I am optimistic about what the future holds for the Newmarket School District. In January we will be launching an effort to align our school program with our newly adopted Vision of a Graduate. As we reflect on this vision and what it means for our program, there will be many positive changes at all levels better to meet our student's needs in the coming year. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish.
Have a Happy New Year everyone!
Todd Allen, Newmarket Superintendent
